Out & About in Palm Cove - Where all the Locals go
Restaurants
Whether you like to savour the freshest of seafood cooked on a true Aussie barbeque, dine in a five star restaurant under the stars, eat fish and chips while snuggled on the beach, or enjoy a relaxing lunch in a French Bistro, Palm Cove truly has it all. Fine meats and seafood coupled with fresh tropical fruit and vegetables, world-renowned chefs, and an atmosphere like no other, make Palm Cove a dining experience to remember.
You can find a complete list of all Palm Cove Restaurants at the following link
However, restaurants can be grouped into several categories.
Breakfast Places – these vary from reasonably priced places to very expensive places. Among the reasonably priced places, and there are many, are Petes Place, Cocky’s, Deli Adrift and Marilyn’s at the Cove. Among the more expensive places are Vivo’s Bar & Grill, Reef House and Angsana.
Lunch and Coffee Places – All the above, plus many more; in fact there are too many to list.
Dinner Places – Reasonably priced places include the Bistro at the Tavern, at the Life Saving Club, and at Apres (order at the bar and eat out the back), Pizza El Forno, Colonies, Portabello’s, Annies and Ando’s. For a really nice night out, we recommend The Reefhouse or Vivo’s, but if you like to eat at award winning restaurants, then try Nu-Nu’s, which won the Gourmet Traveller Best Restaurant (2008).
Shopping in Palm Cove
Palm Cove offers an array of shops scattered throughout the Village. These include Resort Shops (which predominately sell Beachwear & Souvenirs), Tour Specialists, Jewellery shops for that unique piece and several Galleries featuring local artists.
Although there are no banks in Palm Cove, many outlets have ATM’s where you can withdraw cash.
Grocery Shopping
In Palm Cove itself, at the time of writing, there are three outlets where you can buy groceries. The prices are convenient store rather than supermarket prices, but the advantages are that you can buy things in small quantities. The three shops are Petes Place, which is about a hundred metres from our apartments, The Pantry at the Cove which is a little further towards Palm Cove Village, and The Village Supermarket, which is located within the Village Shopping Centre.
There is a Coles at Clifton Beach Shopping Centre which is about five minutes by car or bus and there is a large shopping centre at Smithfield, which has both Coles and Woolworths, along with a K-Mart.
Internet Facilities
If you bring your laptop, wireless internet is accessible from all of our apartments. Otherwise, there are internet cafes in the Pantry at the Cove, in the Post Office and in some outlets in the Village Shopping Centre.
Laundromats
If you are staying in a hotel room this may be of concern to you. The closest Laundromat is located at Trinity Beach, which is about twelve minutes drive, or you can also travel there by the sunbus.
Other Services
The above list is not complete. The Guest Information Folder in all of our apartments provides more information.
